Dr. Xianrong Dong, a Visiting Scholar at the Saltzman Institute, has published a new book, How the Koreans View China. The book, published in Chinese by Social Sciences Academic Press (China), examines the ways in which countries perceive each other and themselves, using the relationship between South Korea and the People’s Republic of China as a case study. The authors come to the conclusion that, due to several factors, a country’s population almost always have a better opinion of their national image than foreigners do.
