SIWPS Member Robert Jervis was interviewed for an article published last week in the Christian Science Monitor, “What would happen if Iran had the bomb?” The article argues that the consequences of an Iranian nuclear weapon, though potentially dangerous, would not be as bad as some have predicted. Dr. Jervis contributed his thoughts as to the political rhetoric around an Iranian bomb, noting that China was seen as similarly out-of-control before their first nuclear test, and the question of a loss of Western influence in the region, arguing that Iran has refused to listen to US demand even without a nuclear weapon.
