Saltzman Institute Member Severine Autesserre has been awarded the 2012 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Ideas Improving World Order for her book, The Trouble with the Congo: Local Violence and the Failure of International Peacebuilding. The book examines international operations in the Congo from 2003 to 2006, arguing that the effort would have been more successful in building peace if it had paid more attention to local conflicts. This year’s Grawemeyer award amount is $100,000.

An article on Dr. Autesserre and her work is available at the Grawemeyer Awards website.
