Saltzman Member and Adlai E. Stevenson Professor of International Politics Robert Jervis has published an article in Foreign Affairs on the potential for diplomacy with Iran over their nuclear program. In the piece, “Getting to Yes with Iran: The Challenges of Coercive Diplomacy,” Dr. Jervis notes that the US will need to “up its game” diplomatically to come to a satisfactory conclusion to the standoff. Washington will need to provide both “credible promises and credible threats” in a carrot-and-stick approach.

The article is available to subscribers only on the Foreign Affairs website.
