Sean Elijah Le Van was born in France and moved to Southern California, where he currently resides. He is a junior at Columbia College majoring in Political Science-Statistics. His research interests include statistical programming, electoral politics, and international relations. A current Laidlaw Research and Leadership Scholar as well as a Fellow at the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies at Columbia, he is the web developer and editor-in-chief of Plural Vote, a political statistical analysis site which has received media attention (Newsweek, Yahoo! Finance, The Week). Prior to entering Columbia College, he programmed Acuman and Frizbee, projects covered by BBC and Information Age. Le Van has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Catalina Jazz Club, and the Munster International Jazz Festival in France as a pianist and singer. A recipient of the President’s Volunteer Gold Service Award, he also volunteers as an online tutor and mentor to out-of-school youths in underserved communities in the Philippines.
