Ross James Gildea is the recipient of a Fulbright Scholar award for 2022-2023. He is a visiting scholar at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies. Gildea’s work covers themes such as foreign policy and values, political violence, atrocity prevention and accountability, and political psychology. At the Saltzman Institute, he will focus on the concept of trauma as it relates to the study of international politics, as well as the relationship between technology and atrocity prevention. His work has appeared in the European Journal of International Relations and Conflict Management and Peace Science. He has also contributed to numerous policy initiatives, including a recent re-examination of the United Nations Framework of Analysis for Atrocity Crimes and an evidence submission to the UK parliament on the military withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Most recently, Dr. Gildea was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Oxford Programme on International Peace and Security (IPS), part of the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict (ELAC). He completed a DPhil in International Relations at the University of Oxford in 2021.
