Marie Miller is a student of economics, international affairs, and human rights at Columbia College. She spent this past summer interning with the Under Secretary of Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights at the Department of State, while pursuing separate research projects on LGBTQ+ asylum law and the political implications of the U.S.’ public acknowledgement of the Armenian genocide. She is currently exploring power exchanges and indigenous rights protection in international company-state contracts with the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, a center of Columbia Law School. Marie was recently named a Phyllis Stevens Sharp Fellow in Political Science. She plans to work in international court, and one day return to State as an Attorney-Advisor in human rights and refugee affairs.
