Nancy Walbridge Collins, a Research Fellow at the Saltzman Institute, paricipated earlier this week in the New York Times “Room for Debate” roundtable. “Room for Debate” asks experts from around the world to answer a particular question in a short article, in this case “With the Soviet Union gone and austerity challenging security, should we disband NATO?” Dr. Collins’ piece, while acknowledging the continued importance of NATO, calls for the United States and its allies to focus more on expanding and strengthening other regional security organizations in order to ensure stability worldwide–to undertake a “seven-continent strategy”.

Dr. Collins’ article and other experts’ responses are available on the website of the New York Times.
