SIWPS Member Austin Long has co-authored a blog post for the Washington Post assessing why Iraqi security forces have performed so poorly against ISIS militants in northern Iraq.

Professor Long and his coauthors, MIT PhD candidate Keren Fraiman and Professor Caitlin Talmadge of George Washington University, argue that politicization, corruption, and poor intelligence are reducing the effectiveness of Iraqi security forces.
