Anthony Costanzo is a senior at the School of General Studies double-majoring in East Asian Studies and Political Science. He is a Marine Corps veteran, having served with the State Department in Rome, Italy; Milan, Italy; Chengdu, China; Shenyang, China; Port-Au-Prince, Haiti; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Anthony has devoted his academic career to East Asian Security and Chinese Foreign Policy. In particular, he seeks to deconstruct contemporary Chinese strategic decision-making by analyzing China’s domestic political environment, socio-cultural idiosyncrasies, and historical memories. Additionally, he studies Mandarin at Columbia, and recently completed the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan.
Anthony formerly served as the President of Military Veterans of Columbia University and as the Student-Veteran Representative on the General Studies Student Council. In his off time, Anthony enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and has trained at various academies in China, Taiwan, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and the United States.
