Lecture Description:
Global markets were long seen as economic opportunities. Increasingly, they have turned into security vulnerabilities. From digital platforms to financial flows to supply chains, states have turned the core networks of globalization into tools to strike at their adversaries. In this talk, Dr. Newman will present the core logic behind the weaponization of interdependence and how state responses to it could be making the world less safe for everyone.
About the Lecture:
The Annual Kenneth N. Waltz Lecture in International Relations was established by the Institute in September, 2008, in celebration of Waltz’s many outstanding contributions to the field of international relations.
