Ms. Virginia Gamba is an Assistant Secretary General at the United Nations in New York. She is the Head of the Joint Investigative Mechanism pursuant to resolutions 2235 (2015) and 2319 (2016) of the Security Council to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Among her prior appointments she was Director and Deputy to the High Representative for Disarmament Affairs at the United Nations and Director of the UNIDIR project on disarmament in peace support operations.
