Johan Norberg, is a senior researcher with an MSc in Russian and Business Administration from Uppsala University and has studied at St Petersburg’s Institute of Finance and Economy.
His research at FOI covers developments in Russia with a focus on the Armed Forces, Central Asia and Russia and Islam. He has also analysed international operations of the Swedish Armed Forces, mainly related to Somalia. Johan has worked in the Swedish Ministry of Defence, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Parliament and served as an officer in Swedish peacekeeping operations in Bosnia, Georgia and the Middle East.

Rajan Menon holds the Anne and Bernard Spitzer Chair in Political Science at the City College of New York/City University of New York, is a Senior Research Scholar at SIWPS and is a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council. Until August 2012 he was the Monroe J. Rathbone Professor of International Relations and chairman of the International Relations Department at Lehigh University. He has also taught at Vanderbilt and Columbia Universities. Menon has served as Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, as Fellow at the New America Foundation, as Visiting Fellow at the Harriman Institute at Columbia University, as Senior Advisor and Academic Fellow at the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and Director of Eurasia Policy Studies at the National Bureau of Asian Research NBR). He has received fellowships and grants from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Carnegie Corporation, the German Marshall Fund, the US Institute of Peace, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. His most recent book is The End of Alliances (Oxford University Press, 2007). He is working on two books, which will appear in 2016: Humanitarian Intervention Reconsidered (under contract from Oxford University Press) and Ukraine 2014: The Crisis and Its Consequences (under contract from MIT Press).
