Elizabeth Frost is a junior at Columbia College pursuing a double major in Urban Studies and Germanic Literature and Cultural History, with a passion for utilizing spatial data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to tackle a wide range of unsolved global and domestic issues. Her most recent geospatial research, which took place at Los Alamos National Laboratory, focused on the urban impact of abandoned oil and gas wells, and she is also a Data Fellow at Barnard’s Empirical Reasoning Center. Additionally, Elizabeth is heavily involved with immigrant justice groups in New York, particularly Afrikana, where she volunteers weekly at their pro se asylum, and Columbia’s Students for Sanctuary. Elizabeth’s academic interests include German-American policy, which she has explored as both a Congress-Budestag Youth Exchange Scholar and Columbia Germanic Department FUBiS scholarship recipient. She is also intrigued by the educational role of cultural institutions, reflected in her experience working at multiple museums, including the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles and the Siam Society, and her current role as a Met Opera Student Ambassador.
